Hi, great site, great to see a restoration in miniature, not somthing you see everyday!
May I ask a question?
I have a new website http://oldsteamers.com/
I am trying to get as many guest reviews on my site as possible, could you right a small review about the JOLR for my site?
I already have one guest review from the Swindon and Cricklade railway, and as this little line is something a little different I thought i'd ask!

Yours faithfully

Hi Will,
Please see my first attempt at a website on www.mprints.co.uk There are sections that you will enjoy. I have taken the liberty to add you to the links. Hope that's OK. Cheers, Dave

Hi William,

Great to see the efforts you are putting in. My parents began the Joys of Life in 1982 when we moved from Cheshire. The vision was to have a visitors center with a family theme. My father was always passionate about railways and wanted to have a railway in miniture, it was designed to be like a quarry railway, with faith, the steam engine, one fifth full size. I'm not sure exactly what year the current railway was started, but myself, my Dad Terry and Martin Hebenstrite began the digging, probably about 1984-85. Over the years many volunteers helped to dig, ballast and weld track. David Mills was very involved with both the railway and as a close friend of my parents, I'm pleased to see you're in contact. He probably remembers many things better than I do. I lived at the Joys until I left to go to university in 1990. My parents retired in the late ninties, selling the property to the current owners. I'm thrilled to see people taking an interest in the railway and hope you go from strength to strength.

I hope to visit the railway when I am visiting my family in Wales later on in the year. The railway looks good and I can't wait to visit. I might also take my 5" gauge train, Xcaliber.smile

If it is of any interest to you I have some video footage of the railway in the early ninties. I looked the railway up last year and was sorry to see that appeared finished with. I am so glad to see that it is being revived, good luck to you.
